Things to do

Handmade goods and unique boutiques

Mixed in with the galleries are small shops full of hard-to-find and locally made goods.

Brightly painted shops and palm trees along Pine Island Road

Mixed in with the local art galleries are numerous shops showing off hard-to-find and locally made goods. From cork bags and wallets to glassware, clothing, and souvenirs, these small shops show why Matlacha is a day-tripper’s favorite destination. Many items are made and signed by local artists who take great pride in their craft.

Sun hats, shades, Italian beachwear, and warm-weather shoes are all part of what you’ll find on Matlacha. Shops such as Island Flair offer both artwork and locally sourced goods, while others, such as Trader’s Hitching Post and Matlacha Menagerie, carry island-made jewelry. Even the post office has a gift shop whose display will wow you!
